Family Support : Focus

ECIC supports a broad-based advisory committee on the issues of family supports or basic needs.  The goal of the Family Support Committee  is to provide advice that will inform ECIC’s work to:

  • Support the local Great Start System infrastructure
  • Advance the Great Start System results:  Families of infants and young children are economically stable; and infants and young children live in safe families
  • Increase knowledge regarding evidence-based practices
  • Development recommendations for innovative early childhood policy
  • Provide education to the public to increase public understanding
  • Increase public and private investment

The committee is not currently convening.

Committee Objectives:

  • Members represent the diversity of Michigan’s population
  • Members have a shared understanding of the contributions each makes to the success of the Family Support component of the early childhood system
  • Members engage in generative dialogue that informs the respective work of membership
  • Members choose to collaborate on projects of shared concern.
  • Members plan and host an annual convening
  • Members oversee preparation of at least one written report from to educate state-wide.
